About me... This is probably the hardest page to write in the whole site.
My name is Sebastian Dobre and i live in Toronto, Ontario. Right now i'm doing Avaya system administration in a large 800+ phones company that has all the range of products from Avaya CM to Avaya Click-to-Call integrated in a lotus notes/domino environment. I am blessed to have a lab system where everything is duplicated from the prod so i can play and test as my heart wishes and also I've been designated as the Architect from my company's side in relationship with Avaya. My role at the present time is Senior Technical Analyst and i was designated to start working with Avaya systems just because i had some previous experience with some switched. I don't have to tell anyone how hard it is to learn this but i was able to get along with all the systems in about 1 year or so along with a little bit a training from some dedicated people.
Meanwhile, as my job required intensive documentation creation i came to the conclusion that others are in the same position like me where are taken from different fields of IT and designated as the PBX/VoIP admin. I wanted to share my experience so this gave birth to toavaya.com, initially as a Toronto Resource (hence to TO in the title) that wanted to provide free training. However, the site grew a little over my expectations so now i'm in the position where i'm writing for the whole world (you will be surprised so see all the countries that use Avaya) and at the present I feel like i have a moral obligation of writing.
I love what i do, and i don't ask for money. I don't consider myself a trainer, however if you require my services, drop me a message and i'll do my best to come to your site and provide training on your system. As you can see you are more then welcome click the advertising links of our sponsors if you find anything that interests you or donate (relax, just joking). It pays for hosting and that is all that i want at this time. Next step i hope i will be able to provide a B2B platform that will bring together the vendors and the users free of charge on this website. If you are a vendor or a member and you are interested in having something posted here, please don't hesitate to use the form bellow. Also, Toronto users unite 🙂 Drop me your contacts and maybe we'll start our own group and meet for beers. Meanwhile, i'll be trying to post something new every week as time and my new baby allows me. Not to forget, if you wish to see an article about something that you are confused or have questions, drop me an email via the contact form bellow or leave a comment. I'll try posting something asap.
Hope i'll see everybody in Vegas this year at the Avaya Conference in May. Say hi if you see me, i promise i'll return the smile and the handshake.
PS. A picture will soon follow.
Comments or questions are welcome.
